Private label

Private-label charcoal

Private-label charcoal is a combined product, packaging and compliance project. The parties must agree the fuel, grade, pack construction, printed claims, artwork, quality criteria and export-packing basis before production begins.

  • Freeze the product before artwork.
  • Write a complete packaging brief.
  • Match printed claims to current evidence.
  • Control approvals, transit protection and later changes.

Artwork is the visible result of decisions made earlier about the product and pack.

Freeze the product first

Select lump charcoal or briquettes, raw material, grade and specification before making performance claims. If the product changes, the artwork and evidence may need to change as well. A White Quebracho restaurant grade should not inherit claims or test values from a different briquette.

Write a packaging brief

The brief should cover nominal weight, bag or carton material, dimensions, barrier needs, closure, handles, print method, colours, barcode, language, outer case, palletization and any retailer-specific requirements. The available options and minimum order must be confirmed by the supplier.

Control artwork claims

Words such as “100%,” “natural,” “sustainable,” “zero deforestation,” “no additives,” “restaurant grade,” “long burning” and “EN 1860-2 compliant” need evidence and a clear scope. Translate the approved meaning, not just the words. Regulatory and safety instructions should be reviewed for each destination market.

Assign approvals

  1. The buyer supplies brand assets, required languages and market rules.
  2. The supplier confirms printable area, dieline and production constraints.
  3. Both parties review product identity, weights and claims.
  4. A final proof is signed before the production run.

Protect the product in transit

Charcoal can create dust and fines when bags move through the logistics chain. Pack strength, stacking, pallet pattern and container loading influence arrival condition. Trial the full pack, not only the printed material. For briquettes, check breakage; for lump charcoal, check grade retention.

Keep change control

Record the approved artwork version, specification, packaging material and production reference. If a regulation, standard, source or product composition changes, evaluate whether the label must change. Old stock and transition rules should be managed explicitly.

BRICAPAR buyer note: Artwork should not be finalized before the product, pack material and printable area are approved. Late product changes can require new claims, translations, barcodes or safety text.
