Why the edition matters
DIN Media lists the current German adoption as DIN EN 1860-2:2023-08, based on EN 1860-2:2023. A report should identify the exact edition applied. A supplier may possess an older report that was valid for a previous program or customer, but that does not show testing against the current edition. The buyer should decide whether updated testing is required for the intended market and contract.

Check the sample and scope
A strong report names the product, distinguishes lump charcoal from briquettes, identifies the sample, states the method and reports results rather than only a pass logo. Confirm whether the laboratory is independent and appropriately competent for the work. Match the report to the product currently offered.
Do not turn a standard into an environmental label
EN 1860-2 concerns barbecue fuel requirements and test methods. It is not proof of sustainable forestry, legal harvest, deforestation-free origin or EUDR compliance. Those questions require different evidence and assessment.
Logo caution: Do not place DIN, DINplus, TÜV or another certification mark on a website or package without a current authorization that covers the exact use.
